Strayer University is appropriately approved and licensed according to the standards of each state in which we have campus locations. The University is licensed by the District of Columbia Education Licensure Commission, the Florida Department of Education, the South Carolina Commission of Higher Education, the Kentucky Council on Post-Secondary Education, and the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. The University is authorized to operate in Delaware by the Delaware Department of Education, in Georgia by the Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission, in Tennessee by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, in Virginia by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, and in West Virginia by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. The University is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, the North Carolina Board of Governors, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Strayer University is licensed to do business in Alabama by the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and its courses have been approved by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. Strayer University is exempt from registration with the Division of Consumer Protection of the Utah Department of Commerce because of its regionally accredited status. Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board certification does not constitute an endorsement of any institution or program. Such certification merely indicates that certain criteria have been met as required under the rules and regulations implementing institutional and program certification as defined in Arkansas Code ß6-61-301.

Strayer University is currently licensed by the Board of Regents of the State of Louisiana. Licenses are renewed by the State Board of Regents every two years. Licensed institutions have met minimal operational standards set forth by the state, but licensure does not constitute accreditation, guarantee the transferability of credit, nor signify that programs are certifiable by any professional agency or organization.

Degree Guide

Strayer University offers a wide range of degrees, programs and certificates to meet the varied needs of its students. We operate on a quarter hour system in which each quarter-long course is granted 4.5 credits (equivalent to 3.0 semester credits).

Undergraduate Certificate (27 credit hours of course work)
The Undergraduate Certificate is designed to provide basic training in your field of study. A high school diploma (or U.S. equivalent) is required to enroll in this program.

Undergraduate Diploma (45 to 54 credit hours of course work)
The Undergraduate Diploma provides focused academic work in your area of study. Students may enter an Undergraduate Diploma program in order to acquire the necessary education to change careers. Additionally, a student with the ultimate goal of an associate or bachelorís degree may choose to take these courses first in order to achieve a visible milestone along the way. A high school diploma (or U.S. equivalent) or higher is required to enroll in this program.

Associate in Arts (90 credit hours of course work)
The Associate in Arts degree program provides college-level training in your field of study, along with some work in the arts and sciences. This degree can often be used to meet half of the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree. A high school diploma (or U.S. equivalent) is required to enroll in this program.

Bachelor of Business Administration (180 credit hours of work)
The Bachelor of Business Administration degree program prepares graduates for a wide range of managerial positions in business, government, and non-profit organizations. Business administration students can choose from ten concentrations to meet their career and educational goals. A high school diploma (or U.S. equivalent) is required to enroll in this program.

Bachelor of Science (180 credit hours of course work)
The Bachelor of Science degree program provides extensive instruction in your area of study, along with substantial work in the arts and sciences. It is possible to earn half of the required credit hours through completing an Associate in Arts degree. A high school diploma (or U.S. equivalent) is required to enroll in this program.

Master of Business Administration (54 credit hours of graduate-level course work)
The Master of Business Administration degree program features a curriculum that prepares adult students for the emerging knowledge economy while emphasizing the latest concepts, practices, and skills in todayís rapidly changing marketplace. MBA students can choose from seven concentrations to meet their career and educational goals. A bachelorís degree or U.S. equivalent is required to enroll in this program.

Master of Education (54 credit hours of graduate-level course work)
The Master of Education program is designed for individuals involved in any aspect of education, training, development, and human resources. By combining the latest information technology tools, business skills and education theories, the program provides students with real-life techniques that you can apply immediately to classroom situations, education management, and administrative challenges. Students can choose from two concentrations to meet their career and educational goals. A bachelorís degree or U.S. equivalent is required to enroll in this program.

Master of Health Services Administration (54 credit hours of graduate-level course work)
The Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) program prepares graduates to manage and direct the business aspects of today's health services organizations. Many graduates of this program work as hospital administrators, healthcare managers, managed healthcare plan coordinators, short and long-term residential facilities managers, and medical records and health information technicians. A bachelorís degree or U.S. equivalent is required to enroll in this program.

Master of Public Administration (54 credit hours of graduate-level course work)
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) provides the expertise needed to advance in government or not-for-profit organizations, with an emphasis on public perception as well as practical know-how. The MPA also incorporates conflict resolution and emphasizes best business practices and management theories. A bachelorís degree or U.S. equivalent is required to enroll in this program.

Master of Science (54 credit hours of graduate-level course work)
The Master of Science degree program requires advanced work and research in your field of study to help you move into mid to upper-level management positions. A bachelorís degree or U.S. equivalent is required to enroll in this program.

Executive Graduate Certificate (27 credit hours of graduate-level course work)
The Executive Graduate Certificate is a program for highly focused and advanced academic work concentrating on a specific occupational area. Students possessing a masterís degree sometimes use this program to acquire more in-depth training. A bachelorís degree or U.S. equivalent is required to enroll in this program.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements

At Strayer University, we donít have a mold that you have to fit in order to become a student. All applicants are considered on their individual merits. Prospective students must hold a high school diploma or its U.S. equivalent. You must submit the following information to your admissions officer:
Completed application form.
Application fee.
Certification of high school graduation or equivalent.

If you are transferring to Strayer University from another post-secondary educational institution, you may be eligible to receive transfer credit or advanced standing if your work at the other institution is appropriate. You may also be eligible to receive credit for life/work experience. Your admissions officer and faculty advisor can help you through this process.

Graduate Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission for an advanced degree program at Strayer University, we require the following credentials:
Completed application form.
Proof of completion of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Any undergraduate major will be considered, but if it varies widely from a proposed graduate major, you may need to take certain undergraduate foundation courses.
Official copies of transcripts from all other colleges or universities attended.
Satisfactory performance in at least one of the following areas:
A minimum cumulative score of 450 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
A minimum cumulative score of 1,000 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
A 2.75 undergraduate grade point average on a 4.0 scale during the junior and senior years of the Baccalaureate degree (i.e. the second half of the credits required for the degree, normally the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours).
Evidence of graduate potential. Special consideration may be given to applicants who show graduate potential and have a minimum of three years of professional or business experience. A personal interview with a Campus Dean is required.

Student Vaccination Requirements

Strayer University must comply with various state health and immunization standards that require students to provide proof of proper immunization. Students residing in the states listed below may be required to obtain certain vaccinations prior to enrollment.

Admission Requirements for International Students Studying in the U.S. or Online

International students have a few additional admissions requirements to meet before they can gain admission to Strayer University.

English Proficiency Students whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Information about this test may be found at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate, or online. The minimum score for admission is 400. Undergraduate students that score between 400 and 500 on the paper-based test must enter a combined language study and academic program until attaining language proficiency before they can pursue a full-time academic program. Graduate students that score between 460 and 550 on the paper-based test must enter a similar program. Students who score less than 400 must enroll in an intensive language program.

Form I-20AB (Studying in the U.S. Only) United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Form I-20AB will be issued to students residing outside of the U.S. once all admission and non-immigrant requirements are met.

Tuition Deposit A $300 tuition deposit is required as part of the admissions process. This deposit is applied towards your first quarter tuition. *Note: For students studying in the U.S., this deposit can be refunded only if your F-1 visa is denied. If your visa is denied, you must return the original I-20AB and/or a denial letter from the Embassy before a refund will be issued. All refund requests must be received in writing within 12 months of the initial application date. If you would like to update your start date to a new term, we recommend that you request this change and return the original I-20AB to your campus within 30 days of the start date listed on your current I-20AB.

Adequate Funds (Studying in the U.S. Only) Students need to demonstrate that they have adequate funds to cover one year's expenses before coming to the U.S. to study or prior to enrolling in classes online. You and/or any sponsor(s) will need to complete a Certificate of Financial Support Form (prior to I-20AB issuance for students studying in the U.S.).

Arriving in the U.S. (Studying in the U.S. Only) USCIS regulations require that you arrive in the U.S. no more than 30 days prior to the start date indicated on your I-20AB.

Health Insurance (Studying in the U.S. Only) Strayer University urges all international students to enroll in one of the group health insurance plans recommended by the Association of International Educators (NAFSA).

Undergraduate Admission Requirements All applicants are considered on their individual merits. Prospective students must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. You should submit the following information to your admissions officer:

Graduate Admission Requirements In order to be admitted into a graduate degree program, the following materials must be provided to your admissions officer:
